Many individuals have comparable idea of or communicated these announcements one after another in their lives. This is the thing that characterizes their usual ranges of familiarity. At the point when safe places are tested to extend people frequently battle the procedure. Commonly no one would prefer not to change based on what is agreeable. The evacuation of any of these purchasing tensions makes an increasingly positive deals condition. (Deal Creators, 2007) Pete Keon says: that by and large in the business, it is important to discover proficient strategies for changing the business condition. This may be important while the organization assesses it productivity during a business year and discovers they have encountered a misfortune. Changing the business condition will be no simple activity for an organization, anyway the board can accomplish this through using the five main considerations of deals achievement. It is fundamental that each deal staff, including the chiefs, are prepared in 5 highlights of deals procedures; characterizing the business battle, deals inspiration, deals introduction, deals strategies, and deals initiative abilities. (Deals Success, 2012) As was examined, job of selling pl ays something critical for any business, however for instance, worldwide selling for financial endurance of each nation, since it grants to have the harmony between their fare income and import use otherwise called the parity of installments. (Middleman and Lancaster, 1997) Economy Watch news worked out: that the UK is the seventh driving shipper and the eleventh driving exporter on the planet. Appropriately, the UK holds an enormous exchange shortage with the remainder of the world, second just to the US. In 2010, UK imports were worth US 546.5 billion dollar with sends out esteemed at just US405.6 billion dollar. In spite of late endeavors by the administration to decrease the exchange deficiency, the most recent information from UK’s Office of National Statistics focuses to an ever-augmenting exchange hole. Since the start of 2011, UK’s month to month exchange shortage has hit record levels of more than  £4 billion every month. The month to month deficiency in the UK for 2011 is additionally surpassing the past record level of  £3.5 billion every month came to in 2007. The expansion in UK’s spending shortage has likewise influenced UK’s exchange shortfall. In this way, the UK’s grimness intend to chop down open spending is fundamental so as to lessen the exchange shortfall also. So here is perceived how essentially universal deals for UK in an entirety. (Economy Watch, 2012) Importing is the point at which an individual or business brings products or administrations into the UK from another nation. Cautious thought with respect to the reasonable items should be given if mean to imports products; this may incorporate how to get the merchandise into the nation, just as the lawful requirements.Under UK law, various lawful duties are forced on an organization, if wish to import products in the UK. One of the first and presumably most significant obligations being that should check if the Department for Business, Innovation Skills (BIS) expects business to have a permit. (Inbrief, 2012) By the manner in which selling abroad is diverse contrasted with the local market, it be that as it may, gives singular firms various advantages. As access to worldwide markets becomes simpler and more organizations enter those business sectors, the opposition between organizations gets more diligently, regardless of which industry they work in. Donaldson (2006) takes note of that regardless of whether the organization doesn't work together abroad it is bound to confront rivalry from outside firms in their home market, in this way by choosing to sell abroad it turns out to be progressively serious and less powerless against financial emergencies. Different advantages are the open door for organizations to accomplish cost reserve funds through expanded economies of scale, just as more noteworthy deals and quicker development because of interest in different markets which thusly can repay the misfortune in the local market. All these is currently conceivable because of innovation which permits firms to control and facilitate activities universally in light of the fact that through the creation of web and media transmission the cooperation with outer clients and providers turned out to be a lot faster and simpler. Another significant factor is Language in light of the fact that the main test when managing worldwide markets is to defeated the language obstruction. It is particularly significant in direct selling. Great information on the another dialect will make deals simpler and can have a sensational effect on the grounds that the sales rep has more prominent access to a neighborhood society and no mediator is required. Organizations for the most part interpreting theirs item promoting in neighborhood language, for instance, Umbro the UK sports producer needed to pull back an entire scope of mentors called Zyklon, after various whines from people and different associations with respect to its name. This is on the grounds that Zyklon was the name of the gas used to kill a large number of Jews in inhumane imprisonments. This issue exists in any outside organization not just for UK firms; Chevrolet Nova likewise endured poor deals in Latin America in light of the fact that No va in Spanish deci phered as doesn't go . Honda brought their new vehicle Fitta into Nordic nations in 2001. In the event that they had set aside the effort to attempt some culturally diverse advertising research they may have found that fitt was an old word utilized in indecent language in Swedish, Norwegian and Danish. At long last they renamed it Honda Jazz. The Swedish furniture goliath IKEA by one way or another settled upon the name ‘fartfull’ for one of its new work areas. Every one of these models show that the organizations were not completely mindful of the interpretation and significance of their image names suggested in the local dialects of the business sectors they were managing, which demonstrates and investigation of the language would have spared them a great deal of cash. (Kwintessential, 2010) This demonstrates contrasts in culture makes some moral issues or bad conduct and so as to defeat potential entanglements the organizations ought to allude to the assistance of experts, for example, a cu lturally diverse consultant,?

Business Ethics Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2250 words - 2

Business Ethics - Essay Example This caused it basic that he to ponder first the potential results of his activities on others. There is no lack of philosophical standards regarding the matter of morals and their intricacy has made it a key subject of conversation or discussions among understudies, academicians, lawmakers and agents. The fundamental motivation behind the investigation of morals is to empower individuals to be guided by their standards and to make sure that their activities are legitimate and good as well as moral. This may appear to be a pointless contention however there are emphatically many fine qualifications between the different lines of moral idea throughout the hundreds of years, as propounded by the incredible personalities of past periods. There are such a significant number of circumstances, all things considered, where individuals are faced with moral difficulties and an information on a portion of the more conspicuous moral standards can be of extraordinary assistance in searching for answers. Conversation Ethics has been applied in various zones, for example, governmental issues (cheating and lying), medication (fetus removal, organ gifts, proxy parenthood, killing), legitimate or equity framework (adolescent misconduct, revenge, imprisonment, the death penalty), financial matters (conveyance of value and advantages), condition (misuse of assets, contamination, disaster of the hall), society (race, ethnicity, minority rights), the military (gay rights, DADT, torment, death) and in business (debasement, pay off, mechanical undercover work, HR the executives) and the rundown could proceed to stretch out to essentially all parts of human life. Organizations today need to think about moral issues too, and this paper takes a gander at how Yahoo, Inc. managed China. The ethical way of thinking of Immanuel Kant, a German scholar and mastermind, has thrown a long shadow on the investigation of morals. His contemplations have affected a few succeeding lines of logicians even up to this present day and age, on the grounds that the majority of his contentions are apt. A cautious re-perusing of his way of thinking shows how these are still entirely pertinent today, even with numerous circumstances not by any means thought about yet during his time. A model is the quick advances in clinical innovations, wherein man can play and act like God, in deciding issues of life and demise. Questions, for example, premature birth, willful extermination, organ transplants and substitute parenthood are only a portion of the issues that must be settled by moral morals in which Kantian way of thinking can be effectively utilized in having pertinent conversations and ideally show up at great choices. Legitimate frameworks have not stayed aware of these advances in clinical information and innovations with the end goal that the laws right now set up are horribly lacking and can't give supportive answers. Moral issues and good contemplations have in like manner introduc ed new difficulties for the business elements, particularly with the coming of the globalization in exchange and trade. There are numerous circumstances wherein firms work in different nations, regularly with laws at change or even opposite with the household laws in their nation of habitation. This circumstance can introduce a precarious business condition on the grounds that higher administration needs to fight with clashing requests from opposing principles of what establishes great administration and best practices. In many cases, it is left to the best tact of senior administration on the best strategy, exploring an ocean of laws which can function admirably in one nation yet not in another nation. Morals has saturated the universe of business as corporate social obligation (CSR) which give rules on what to do in antagonistic or equivocal circumstances without relinquishing benefits. In the last examination, there can be no obvious answers and it is better left to the best

Startup Hubs Around the World Warsaw

Startup Hubs Around the World Warsaw In true underdog fashion, Warsaw, Poland seems to have every strike against them in their quest to join the world’s startup hubs. The economy is slow, population of the city is relatively small, the infrastructure of the city is declining and the national government even stated that Poland has made very little progress in the area of innovation and is one of the EU’s least innovative countries. With that kind of optimism as support, it appears that Warsaw has something to prove to the rest of the world (and their own government): they are hungry for startup glory. © Shutterstock.com | whitelookConsidering Warsaw, Poland as a critical portion of central Europe’s startup scene may surprise you. To determine what the future holds for Warsaw, we’ll investigate 1) the location, 2) the tax incentives, 3) legal incentives, 4) investors, 5) local resources, 6) specialization of the area, and 7) startups to watch.LOCATIONSometimes known as ‘the phoenix city’ in reference to the number of wars and conflicts the city has survived in its seven hundred year existence, Warsaw is a city with a dream. Through its long history, Warsaw has been home to some of the biggest movements in the world, so it is only fitting that they begin a movement towards global recognition.Geographical BenefitsThe largest city in Poland, Warsaw has an estimated 1.7 million residents. It sits on the Vistula River near the central eastern border of the country. Less than 200 miles from Berlin, it is conveniently located for easy travel to other European countries, and conne cted through airlines to the rest of the world. Warsaw was affected by the devastation of World War II, and the city was predominately razed and then construction began on a new city. In the post-war years, most of the historical buildings fell into disarray and even some who weren’t in disarray â€" began to rebuild. The new face of Warsaw has a well-planned city, with new modern buildings.Advantages to choosing the cityWarsaw is known for its green spaces that are both modern and contemporary. With their latest rebuilding program, they accommodated green spaces through the city and now boast new parks, new monuments and new programs. Residents and entrepreneurs who work and live in Warsaw can take advantage of the cold winter and warmer summer weather.Transportation within the city is convenient; its two airports service 100 flights a day. The city also uses a system of public transportation options: trams, buses and the popular bike sharing program.TAX INCENTIVESThere is a lot of innovative activity within Warsaw that is helping to build the city as a reliable source of information. A major drawback to the city’s future potential, however, is the lack of government support in a financial way. There is an absence of tax incentives for venture investors â€" a key ingredient in the startup hub toolbox. Finally, there needs to be some clarity for contract law and regulations. Adding these few details to their growing list of success will not only help startups succeed but will foster a sense of community between the corporate world and the leadership of the nation. Leaders can get together and talk about what large scale corporate needs the nation has and can effectively made that work. There is a strong need for government financial support during a campaign, but long after the government has been replaced, the company will still require interaction and support to continue to grow instead of giving up. Offering the local entrepreneur tax incentives is a vit al portion of the startup hub community. Allowing the startup to receive tax credits based on where the company’s offices are located, where a manufacturing plant may be. Additional credits may be for the type of worker you’re investing, etc.LEGAL INCENTIVESThe government of Poland has declared that Poland (Warsaw) is at the bottom of the heap for innovation and technology. While in theory the government is helping to promote Warsaw’s entrepreneurial efforts, the laws are so difficult and complex they intimidate users. The laws surrounding investing are covered in red tape, making it almost impossible to decipher. Particularly for the investors who are elsewhere in the world, having so much red tape can impede the ability or desire to even attempt to invest. For companies headquartered in the United States or some European countries, it may seem futile to even attempt to meet that standard. However, if a company starts out doing the right thing, before they have to unlearn bad habits, it can only be commendable. The legalities of starting a business in Warsaw are straightforward. The process takes very little time (from start to finish it can take 3 days). The biggest hurdle is ensuring that every needed paper is filled out correctly. Hiring a lawyer in Warsaw can be one of the most effective steps a foreign entrepreneur takes. This will ensure that any additional paperwork that needs to be handled is properly filed, it will eliminate concerns over language barriers and can provide a resource that will benefit the startup.INVESTORSMost of the money being invested in Poland is coming from the EU. While this provides millions of dollars for Warsaw, what the city actually needs are venture capitalist specialists. Venture capitalists are prepared to establish a website simply so they can see if they like what items are listed and then find out if anyone else is interested. An entrepreneur resource, the government’s 8.1 program provides funds for investors. T he funds, however, was given to investors directly, with little oversight or direction. Overnight, investors who took advantage of it were trying to decide what to do with their $65,000 investment. The invested money still belonged to Poland, but the royalties would belong to the individual. On the surface, the 8.1 program seems to be a good idea. The EU recently gave Poland a $14 billion incentive fund to launch innovative, risky technologies. In a move that befuddles many, their investment money was spent on traditional, less risky markets. Instead of focusing on innovation, the investors were focused on a return. They managed to get a minimum return for their money, but no lasting effects were really felt by either team. The opposite approach would have had the investors putting their money in a setting where the technology is risky. This investment may not have the same rate of return the first company had â€" typically a riskier business offers a slightly higher rate of return. I nvestors who put their money in a riskier field will typically generate higher returns on their money. Neither approach is a clear winner, but spending a couple hours with the company does give one the indication that it has as a wealth of information to share. The government needs to create a system of tax credits and benefits for investors in Warsaw companies. Offering tax credits is a way of enticing companies to put their money in corporations. To be competitive on the world stage, the city of Warsaw is going to need to attract big name investors to the table.LOCAL RESOURCESPoland has limited resources that are of benefit in their quest to become a startup. One of the most significant is the available workforce. Warsaw has a high level of residents who are technically proficient and well educated. Polish coders consistently finish in high positions in international coding competitions, yet their annual salaries don’t reflect the higher level of coding that they are capable of o ffering. While there are a number of factors to take into account, the bottom line is that the salary scale in Poland is immensely different (and lower) than it is around the world. Additionally, the typical Polish employee speaks proficient English. This sets the worker ahead of other workers around the globe.Entrepreneurs in Warsaw have been reaching what they refer to as the ‘Valley of Death’ (VOD). The VOD is when the initial bootstrap money has been spent, and yet the company is not earning enough to attract the attention of potential second stage investors. Startups expect another city to step up to the plate with funding in an attempt to lure the programmers away. Time will tell the results of the money phase, it will be interesting to see how many venture capitalists return for a second round of funding. The workforce in Warsaw, while large, is not the biggest story in Poland. Instead, the number of available mentors should be one of the more critical points of considerat ion. Previous generations of workers did not have the luxury of choices when it came to their workplace, and the idea of opening a business, while cool to think about, was beyond the possibilities. With their in-depth experience, these mentors have been through the startup phase and are an excellent source of information for the young entrepreneur.Another resource in Warsaw is the soon-to-open Google campus. Scheduled to open in 2015, Google’s campus will be a place that entrepreneurs can receive ‘unparalleled’ access to training and mentorship. Campus Warsaw is being designed to supercharge the innovator and encourage the entrepreneur by providing peer contacts, as well as innovation for the design. The startups in Poland are facing uncertain times as they navigate through the maze of entrepreneurship. Finding out how to reach your potential client, and then finding out how to engage with them can be difficult for an entrepreneur. Finding a suitable hub or workzone is essentia l for these organizations.SPECIALIZATIONThe tech scene in Warsaw is growing at a rapid pace. With the beginnings of their own ecosystem, there is starting to be a sense of anticipation about where the market will go. As entrepreneurs retire and become investors, it offers them the opportunity to act as mentors to younger entrepreneurs. This cycle of moving through the startup phases and then exiting the market, only to re-enter it as an investor, lends a sense of depth to the startup scene. One of Warsaw’s mentors who are exiting the startup scene is Chris Kowalczyk from Hard Gamma Ventures. He offers support in the means of funding, as well as mentorship to other entrepreneurs in the startup business. It can be very complex to navigate the tech market; trying to muddle through alone can be overwhelming.Few cities have the opportunity to create a startup market in the way that Warsaw has done. Because of the many times that the city was demolished and rebuilt, the citizens of the city have developed an adaptability to change. In this current ‘rebuilding’ of the city, the building of a tech market is unique. The entrepreneurs of Warsaw are putting together the leadership team that their startup hub should have; they can ‘custom build’ their hub. What type of events should they have? What time should the meetings start? What about office sharing? Startups in Warsaw are answering these questions and developing a clear idea of what their startup zone will entail. The industries that Warsaw has been developing are a hybrid of tech companies and service companies. There are just as many developing tech firms springing up as there are other types of industries. With the relatively new market, there is no single industry that emerges as a leader. What seems to be important, however, is that the startup market is beginning to boom â€" and that there are minimal roadblocks to the finish line of success. One thing is clear: Warsaw is building their tech market fr om the bottom up.STARTUPS TO WATCHOpenReaktor is one of the few startup hub zones in Warsaw. Monthly events bring several hundred entrepreneurs together in a common location for collaboration, socializing and networking. By offering the startups of Warsaw a centralized place, they are creating excitement and energy that is necessary in successful hubs. Guest speakers, on-site visits and more are all a part of this growing hub. Home to 9 startups, they are working diligently to encourage more entrepreneurs to take part.Homplex: An effective home décor tool, Homplex offers practical interior design work, along with renovation and decoration ideas. Working with the customer’s budget, the designer offers homeowners several options that coincide with their dreams. The vision becomes reality through Homplex’s relationship with contractors and builders.Radgost: Specifically designed for small to medium businesses, Radgost creates applications that can be used in the business sector. T hey have created applications such as an online billing system and a help desk application.Gametrade: An online marketplace that serves over 200,000 users a month, Gametrade is a platform for gamers to buy, sell or swap gaming systems and equipment. Allowing users to post their consoles, peripherals and games provides the user with the opportunity to upgrade their system, try out new games or simply clean out their collection in a fast and easy manner. The city of Warsaw is determined to join the bigger cities on the list of global startup hubs. In spite of hurdles that they may face, they have begun to establish the right type of resources, attract investors and entrepreneurs and build scalable companies in a very short amount of time. While they still have a ways to go before they catch up with Silicon Valley, they have begun to attract the world’s attention. Once they have several companies exit, they will be able to propel other companies onto the global platform and it will be gin to generate additional interest in their startup hub. Their history has shown that the citizens of Warsaw are not deterred by opposition â€" they have learned the value of ‘slow and steady wins the race’. They have mastered the art of staying current with the tech trends, while patiently waiting for the world to notice their progress.

Madness in the New York Trilogy - Literature Essay Samples

Author Philip K. Dick once said, â€Å"It is sometimes an appropriate response to reality to go insane.† The theme of the source of madness is explored in all three stories that form Paul Austers novel The New York Trilogy. The three relatively short detective stories all explore similar themes and similar ideas, one of them being why people would go mad in our society. In the first story, the reader sees Queen the detective become mad as he cannot crack the Stillman ´s case, which in the end was no mystery to solve. In the second story, the reader sees Private Investigator Blue go mad when he is paid to simply watch a man write all day, nothing else. In the third story, the narrator goes crazy by trying to find his own identity through his childhood missing friend. At the end of the novel, the reader can recognize Paul Auster is making the point in his three narratives that because men have no real purpose, they will go mad. City of Glass deals with the theme of the existence of purpose leading to insanity by presenting writer Quinn with a detective case. He is hired to follow Peter Stillman Sr, who has been in jail for locking up his chil several years. However, since the beginning of the case were are presented with the meaninglessness of the case. This first appears when Quinn is going to start his pursuit of Stillman at the trainstation, and suddenly he finds himself in trouble as two identical men with Stillman ´s face materialize from the trains. Quinn recognizes that whoever he chose to follow â€Å"would be arbitrary, a submission to chance,† and that it would â€Å" haunt him to the end,†(pg.68). This displays how even since the beginning of Quinn ´s pursuit, there is no real purpose to it. Everything could have been different if he followed the other Stillman, defeating the purpose of Quinn ´s search for the truth. It does not exist in this case. After following various â₠¬Å"leads† that lead Quinn nowhere but to imagine things like maps of paths and himself becoming Stillman ´s son, Quinn loses track of Stillman one night. He realizes at that time that â€Å" He had nothing, he knew nothing [and that], he only knew that he knew nothing,†(pg 125). After this, the book turns very dark, as Quinn goes live in an alley in front of Tillman Jr ´s apartment. He goes mad, teaching himself to live on the least food possible and sleeping on 15 minute intervals. This shows that when Quinn realizes that he cannot solve his case, and there is no meaning to what he has been trying to do all this time, he simply goes mad. It proves the point that knowing nothing breaks the human spirit. Ghosts explores this same idea in a somewhat similar way. This time it follows a real private investigator named Blue, who is hired by White to watch Black from across the window and write reports on what he does every week. In the begging, Blue begins to wonder about all the interesting things the case coul entail, however he soon notices that all that the most action he would get is to watch Black write all day. In an absurd conversation where Black takes on Blues role and explains to Blue what he himself does all day, he explains that his job is just to watch a man that â€Å"sits in his room all day and writes,† he explains how this is enough to â€Å"drive you crazy,† (pg.214) This shows how in his research to find out the truth about the case, he only finds absurdity, which in turn, makes him go crazy. This becomes a metaphor for life through the story. When Blue really becomes crazy in this story is when he sneaks into Black ´s house and finds that what he has been reading and writing are Blues own reports. This hits Blue hard, as he discovers how the last year of his life he has been investigating nothing. The narrator explains that it â€Å"is not certain that Blue ever really recovers from the events of this night,† (pg.224). After finding out that everything he has investigating is a non existent fraud, Blue goes crazy. In the end, the narrator does not know what happens to him, as he simply puts on his hat and leaves the apartment where everything happened. The Locked Room differs from the other novels, as it is farther away from the detective genre. In his search for truth, the narrator is not solving a case, rather looking for Fanshawe, which symbolizes himself. After Fanshawe disappears, the narrator who is his childhood takes over his life, marrying his wife, and publishing his book. The narrator becomes Fanshawe. This is why when he gets a letter from the real Fanshawe the narrator becomes obsessed with finding him. As a parallel to the other stories, he also loses his life (wife and child) to embark on his search. He becomes so desperate to find his long lost friend that at a bar he pretends on man who â€Å"didnt know weather to treat [him] as a jovial drunk or a dangerous psychopath,† (pg.249) of being Fanshawe. This demonstrates that by looking for Fanshawe, the narrator tries to find himself, and when he cannot he loses his marbles. When the narrator finally finds Fanshawe, he gets a notebook of his notes. On the journe y back home, he tries to read the journal he tried to â€Å"get a sense of what Fanshawe had written,† but he explains that he â€Å"understood very little† (pg.370) of what was written. As in the two other stories, the characters never seem to get the answers that they have lost everything looking for. The narrator in The Locked Room ultimately does not find himself when looking for Fanshawe. His purpose, as the others, was meaningless. The trilogy explores several themes inside the stories, such as the use of language and words, the duality of things, or the hassles of being a writer. However, the most prominent thing that the reader notices after reading this trilogy, is the idea that if a man searches too much, he will go mad. This searching typically refers to meaning or purpose or identity of oneself. Weather it is you are looking for answers in a case, purpose in your career, or your identity, if you look too hard to any of these you will find nothing. What Auster says about this nothingness is that it leads to madness. Paul Auster does not criticize this madness, in the first book he even questions what crazy Peter Stillman sees when he looks at a tree. This questions if the insane look at the world in a different way, not necessarily good or bad. However, he does assert in a very dark manner that when looking for the inexistent purpose of humanity, individuals will only find insanity.

Chung, Elliot Sloane Department of Decision and Information Technologies, College of Commerce and Finance, Villanova University, Villanova, PA 19085, USA Received 7 February 2002; accepted 26 September 2003 Abstract Studies in process change have focused on the improvement of operational performance measures such as the actual waiting time of a service system. However, process redesign may not only change the actual waiting time but also have signià ¿cant impact on perceived waiting time. We examine†¦show more content†¦In Disney World, for instance, a number of popular rides make visitors wait for at least 45 min to take a 3-min ride but most visitors are quite satisà ¿ed with their experience. This is because the distractions employed by Disney make visitors feel that they did not wait that long. Researchers have explored various ways of in uencing customers’ perceived waiting time, including changing service environment [5], engaging customers during the wait [6], and providing feedback about expected waiting time [7]. Process changes such as the deployment of express lines may on the one hand reduce the perceived waiting time by making the waiting environment look less crowded due to reduced average waiting line length. On the other hand, the violation of â€Å"à ¿rst come, à ¿rst serve† rule may create the perception of â€Å"social injustice† [8] and cause perceived waiting time to increase among those customers who are not eligible for the express lines. Thus far, there is no empirical study that has explicitly investigated the impact of process change on perceived waiting time. In this study, we examine how process enhancements affect customer perceptions on waiting and customer satisfaction. The Importance of Carnivalesque in Twelfth Night - 1312 Words

The Importance of Carnivalesque in Twelfth Night The theory of Carnivalesque was presented by a Russia critic Mikhail Bakhtin, his theory proposed that the nature of Carnivalesque liberates the assumptions of the higher class through humour and chaos, in other words the nature of Carnivalesque mocks the behaviour of those higher in authority and presents them as an everyday fool whereas in reality they are regarded as far more intelligent than others and they rarely possess a foolish thought, as they depict a jester to be foolish, but in fact his intelligence is shown in the play ‘Twelfth Night’ The concept of Carnivalesque derives from a feast named ‘Feast of Fools’ this festival granted the assumed fools in society a chance to enter†¦show more content†¦Through the example of Maria’s momentary arrogance, and Thomas Hobbes idea of a ‘sudden glory’ it is clear that Carnivalesque is important to the comical nature of ‘Twelfth Night’ through the nature of Carnivalesque, arises the amusing side of this play, because the breakdown of class boundaries and the ability for the lower authority to resist higher authority, is unlike ordinary life, therefore the nature of Carnivalesque presented in this play depicts an exaggerated view on life. The theory of Carnivalesque is important to the comical genre in Shakespeare’s ‘Twelfth Night’ because it makes a mockery of those in higher authority. According to Mikhail’s theory, in literacy forms there is a resistance to authority. The concept of mocking those higher in authority and resisting authority is presented in ‘Twelfth Night’ usually through music. When Feste is asked to sing, in Act 2 Scene 4, by Orsino, he relates the song to Orsino’s woes of love and Olivia. ‘I am slain by a fair cruel maid’ this quote is Feste’s way of criticizing Orsino’s stupidity for loving a woman who he knows does not share this feeling. He satirises Orsino’s self-indulgence by singing a song about the troubles in his life, however Feste clearly states in this song that Olivia does not love him, and is indirectly stating that Orsino is a fool loving a woman who is not interested. Discrimination And Oppression Of Native Americans And The...

The history of America has always been intertwined with the history of discrimination and oppression of ethnic minorities. Whether it be the internment of Japanese Americans in concentration camps during World War II, the passage of ethnic quotas for immigrants during the 20th century, or most prevalently, the racial disparagement of Native and African Americans since the birth of the nation. Although intolerance of both Native and African Americans has persisted throughout time, authors of all time periods and races have spoken out and criticized the treatment of these groups through works of literature: specifically, A Century of Dishonor by Helen Hunt Jackson, and The Souls of Black Folk by W.E.B. Du Bois. Although both Authors criticize the treatment of minorities in their book’s, Du Bois African Americans and Jackson Native Americans, they do so through distinct methods, differing in regards to the portrayal of the tone and the mood of the novel, though both using powerfu l imagery to support their arguments that the treatment of minorities is unacceptable and must change. Throughout both a A Century of Dishonor and The Souls of Black Folk, Du Bois and Jackson offer a similar tone of accusation, although differing when discussing who is at fault for their communities respective problems. Jackson places the blame on the United States government, mainly for their treatment of Native Americans, as well as their many broken promises to natives’ tribes. Asp Facility The Central Bank of the Philippines also known as the â€Å"Bangkok Central nag Philippians† was established during the regime of Ferdinand E. Marco’s. Its main objective is to manage the monetary policy and collect all the important wealth of our country. We will write a custom essay sample on Nothing or any similar topic only for you Order Now Our tour was In the Security Plant Complex of the BSP where the production of money and refinery of gold takes place. These two things are the blood of our economy that Is Important for us to achieve higher standards of competitive advantage over other SEAN countries. The Security Plant Complex or SSP of the Bangkok Central nag Pleasant was designed nearly for the prevention of copying our money supply. The overall structure of the compound Is a very unique one, making It a giant fortress Inside the city. Security measurements are high Like the censored doors, tinted mirrors, hardened walls, and exceptional level of technology enhancement. If we are going to talk about their machineries that they use in manufacturing and producing money, basing it from money reserved inside the facility, they still waste a lot of raw money (moneys that aren’t accepted because of some deficiencies). Lastly in terms of structural quality, I an say that it is a solid 10 because they have figure out how to give a pleasant atmosphere from the hallways up to the manufacturing facilities. Video-showing The Video showing we watched was about the History of our money, from the first generation to the modern generation of money and how these things are being created. They also let us watched how to create our money, the security features of each of our money have and the refinery of gold in the Philippines. History of Money The whole video was a good reference of the Philippines’ money history. They told us hat from coins, they have started creating bills in the Spanish Era to lessen the cost of production. In the American Era they have known our currency as the English Series since the American overtook us that time. That time was a big boom for the Philippine economy that’s why the â€Å"English series† was replaced by its new formal name the â€Å"Filipino series†. After the People Power Revolution, the establishment of â€Å"Basing Albanian† banknotes took place and replace the older banknotes. Lastly, the establishment of the BSP diminished all the remaining banknotes to create a more specific note that the people will accept as a legal tender. Last year they have created new banknote bills that are known as the modern generation of bills. These bills have special security features that prevent other people from copying and creating replicas. Bills that have lower value have lower safety features while bills with higher values have a higher safety features. This way of security is for the stability and safety of our Monetary Policy. Gold Refinery The SSP is also responsible for the refining the gold that is being legally sold to our country. They do this process to weld the gold into formal shapes which is stored somewhere in our country. The first process of refinery is melting the collected gold for it to be malleable and to turn into a formal shape. The next step is for the blacksmith to put the gold in a plate where it can be shaped. The last step is to wait for the gold to be cold enough to be handled by tongs and put it in the reservoir. This process is important to easily count and weigh the gold that is collected. The video also told us that even the dresses they used in the process are filtered because of the gold dusts it contains. The SSP always need to keep in touch with these things to protect our gold reserves. After the video, we then moved on to the tour around the production facility. They showed to us the facilities they used to process the things that we call the legal tender. The following below are the stages of creating banknotes; 0 Simultaneous printing The first process is simultaneous printing. The paper they used is 80% cotton and 20% abaca. For the ink to permanently stay on the paper, they must wait a week for it to be fully dry. Intaglio printing The second process is called intaglio. This is where they carved ink in the paper to make it look better and more appealing to the user. Checking This process is where they will check whether the money is acceptable in the market or not. This will also tell if the money is ready to be distributed or to be reused. Releasing The last process is the releasing of the money to the economy by distributing into different banks in the Philippines (they Just told us this process). As the day goes by, they produce thousands of bill yet they also waste thousands of it. This is because not every machine produces perfect printed money. During the Printing process, they also apply the intaglio and the serial number of the paper. Even if the money already had a serial number, it is still not acceptable not unless verified by the government. But before the verification, they must still check whether the money is acceptable or not. They have 2 ways of checking bills; automatic and manual. If a checker randomly pick 10 sheets of paper and all of it are in printed perfect, then the whole set where the 10 sheets are taken is sent to automatic checking but if one of them is not in good condition, then the whole set where the sheets is taken will be sent in manual checking. In automatic checking, they directly .NET the set of sheets in the intaglio process while in the manual process, each sheet in the set is checked for security measures. After all the acceptable sheet is collected it goes to numbering and then verifying. Lastly, the printed money is reserved for future purposes. Security documents and Special Medals While in the middle of the tour, we also saw that bills are not the only thing that they produced but also security documents like passports and land titles. They said that it will be much easier for them to produce it here than any other place for security. We awe how they compile each paper turning it into a new and ready to use passports. Use in creating these kinds of titles. It a bright yellow-green paper and has a border. They also produce special medals like honor medals and presidential medals which is used in special events. This medal is commonly made in gold that came from our gold reserves. Coins After touring us in the bills and documents facilities, they then took us in the coins compiling facilities. Here are the stages of coin processing; Production of blank coins Our tour guide said that the blank coins we used came from South Korea. These coins are made from nickel and silver and as same as the value of what it says. For example, a one peso coin also has a value of one peso in terms of metal value. This is used for the security value of the money and will prevent melting of coins to gain more money. Carving of coins The next process after the shipment of the coins is carving it into money which it will be used as a legal coin. They used a machine to do this process due to the supply. Compiling In this process they used a machine to produce a set of coins which is for the distribution of the coins. The machines cover the set with paper and then sent to another machine which sends the set of coins into a box where it will be distributed. The end of tour The tour guide said that the main objective of this Facility is to protect and create the monetary supply. We all know that the BSP objective is to stabilize the financial status of the economy. To do this, they must balance the monetary supply to prevent it from being produced by others using its security features. They must realize that they are one of the most important sectors of the government and without them; here will be no balance in the country. BSP as a whole, our tour guide said, is a foundation of the economies wealth and sustainability. BSP keeps the economy balance by controlling and regulating the monetary policy and managing all the banking and non-banking institutions in the country. Before we end our tour, our tour guide lets us ask questions about the tour. Most of us ask about the security measures of each bill and how can we really distinguish the real from the fake. The guide tells us that they sell simple Before we leave, she asks us if we want to buy some old commemorative bills. These ills have no monetary value but only as a souvenir. Some of bought some of it but I think that they Just waste their money because they Just used it to buy a non-legal Recommendation The Tour First of all, the tour is very educational but boring. So boring that the only thing that keeps me from sleeping and listening is myself chatting with others. They should have given us good tour guides which have both the skill and the charm. Second, they should only allow the tour if there is an activity in the refinery because it’s so unfair if only others saw it or much better if all the tour schedules is at the same date which the gold will be refined. Lastly, they should also make the tour a happy one that will cheer the student from listening. The Facilities Their facilities are good but they should also realize in wasted materials they used in creating bills and other products. As I have said before, they still waste thousands of bills and also thousands of products that should have been already distributed or used as a reservation for the future cases. They should improve their machineries and increase its accuracy to achieve a better potential and maximize our resources. The Video The video is also a life learning footage but it’s a little bit boring because all it does is explain and tackle everything about the history of money. They should apply at least some real life footage Just to wake us up or boost us. They could also use some games or tricks Just to keeps us in touch in them or make them see if we are still listening or not. The SSP The Sports complex must add more features in managing the whole process of manufacturing our monetary supply. To sum it up, they still need manage more things to do its duties and obligations in our country. Some observers think that it was unfair to combine Vietnamese and Chinese product In the same trade slut but In other hand, European semicolons conclude that Vietnam and China bicycle have same type and distribution. The anta mumping causes low Import shoes product from China and Vietnam and It become opportunity to other country to enter the market since E consists of lots of countries and consumers. CASE 8- I DISCUSSION QUESTION 1 . When tariffs are imposed on European imports of shoes from China and Vietnam, who stands to gain? Who stands to lose? In the situation when tariffs are imposed against China and Vietnam, E countries will get more gain because if China and Vietnam still want to enter Ex.’s market, they must pay high tariff to E government which means, high Income for ELI. In addition, the situation can also give advantage for other country such as Indonesia to enter the market because E not Imposed ant’ dumping to Indonesian product, yet. Surely, the situation will make China and Vietnam go Into collapse because they must pay high tariff with uncertain profits. 2. European policy makers object to the fact that some Asian shoe production is government seized. But as an editorial in the Financial times noted † If Beijing and Hanoi want to subsidize European consumers to build their shoe collections, let them . Do you agree? I’m not agree with that. In my opinion, government of China and Vietnam have reason why they subsidize shoe production and that reason is to fulfill their people’s need rather than to fulfill other countries people. Penthouse exporting the products to other country can give Income to government but I think It will be better for them to satisfy local people need first and they can satisfy other countries need next. 3. Antiquating countries can be described as a form of protectionism. As the global retentions. Is this a positive trend or are such policies likely to prolong the recession? In my opinion, anti dumping can be described as protection to local product against the import one. Local product can help countries to help from crisis because the money flow only happened in one country. I think it is a positive trend and can make a country become more independent and survive from the crisis. If they don’t do antiquating, it can can harm their local product, make them more dependent to other country. How to cite Nothing, Papers

Question: Discuss about theStrategic Information Systemfor Payroll and Trial Balance. Answer: Introduction Accounting software is a software application used for processing and recording of accounting transactions such as accounts receivables, payroll and trial balance. It is important to underscore that Accounting has long history that dates back to those incarnation of mathematicians such as Leonardo Vinci and Luca Pacioli in the 15th century. However, notable progress was realized in 1980s where Accounting Software became much advanced. This saw the realization of multiple software which played significant role in business, making the venture operate well and maintaining high efficiency and accuracy of figures. QuickBooks Kelly (2012) catergoriacly steats that QuickBooks is widely known and used over a vast geographical coverage of land. Ideally, it is approximated that over 130,000 accountants make use of it on their daily activities of calculating and recording relevant information(KELLY, 2012). Additionally, it helps in management of clients book and therefore making it efficient for storage of confidential information for the firm. As such, it integrates other relevant application that do cohere in functionality so as to heighten its usage. Primarily, the above application has been improved over years to make it much simpler and easier to use. Most of this application make use of Cloud based accounting software(MADEIRA, 2013). This is the modern and current application that allows one to use online and therefore lessens the activity of moving from one place to another to get access to given accounting application. It therefore reduces the ambiguity of one moving from place to another and ultimatel y allowing one person to operate their job at the places of their convenience. Advantages of Accounting Software Some of the AS applications are enumerated below as follows. Most of AS are used to track inventory, vendors and customer information. This puts the firm at a better position to establish the magnitude of its sales and most importantly to ascertain the underlying factors surrounding the firm. The modern form of application that was realized is the use of Cloud base accounting. The cloud base accounting lowers cost of use and it is the most convenient type of application. The previously mentioned applications heightens efficiency and therefore makes it realizable(NEISH, 2013). Moreover, it backs up the data and make it more practicle for usage. This offers both online and offline support. Due to its dual use, it makes it easier for accountant to use in tracking some of financial records. Freshbooks, Sage and QuickBooks has provided an array of solution to accounting industry. This makes it easier for accounting to make tracks of multiple of items in the firm and therefore improving of efficiency(REEVE, 2012). Cloud based accounting obliterates any form of anomaly or reduces chances of realizing loss in the firm. Apart from business enterprises using it, also the public sectors and the government makes good use of it due to its high degree of efficiency in keeping the information confidential. It is pertinent to state that Freshbooks is the most preferable of form of Accounting since it can perform an array of activities by tracking relevant information in the business(CURTIS, 2012). This is the reason that most of the businesses and public sectors prefer it. Challenges As indicated above, most of Accounting Software are beneficial to the growing economy. However, it is important to state that AS has its own pitfalls that would be enumerated in this work. There are a lot of complexities that are involved in the use of most of AS(ROEBUCK, 2012). The complexities is due to its sophisticated features. It becomes difficult for most of the people to operate and therefore requires proper training on it for the said application to become relevant. Sometimes, it may deny access to other viable users in the firm if one of the employee the organization decides to alter its encrypted figures(TECHNOLOGYADVICE, 2015). This may become difficult for most of the employees or an opportunity to track some of the financial records in the firm which are very crucial. Recommendations Different business ought to make good use of AS in their operation since it enhances efficacy in tracking the financial records of the firm. In conclusion, firm should ascertain which Accounting software they ought to adopt in respect to the magnitude of task in the business. In analyzing the advantages of Accounting Software, here are a number of consideration that are to be made. These are: Whether it can calculate payroll and other requirements such as (PAYE, annual leave and other notable functionality of accounting; Whether the system track stocks, orders and jobs in the firm; whether the system handles multiple accounts and lastly, can the system track separate financial records in the company. Web DuBois Essays - , Term Papers, Research Papers

Web DuBois Web Du Bois was born a free man in his small village of Great Barington, Massachusetts, three years after the Civil War. For generations, the Du Bois family had been an accepted part of the community since before his great-grandfather had fought in the American Revolution. Early on, Du Bois was given an awareness of his African-heritage, through the ancient songs his grandmother taught him. This awareness set him apart from his New England community, with an ancestry shrouded in mystery, in sharp contrast to the precisely accounted history of the Western world. This difference would be the foundation for his desire to change the way African-Americans co-existed in America. As a student, Du Bois was considered something of a prodigy who excelled beyond the capabilities of his white peers. He found work as a correspondent for New York newspapers, and slowly began to realize the inhibitions of social boundaries he was expected to observe every step of the way. When racism tried to take his pride and dignity, he became more determined to make sure society recognized his achievements. Clearly, Du Bois showed great promise, and some influential members of his community. Although Du Bois dreamt of attending Harvard, these influential individuals arranged for his education at Fisk University in Nashville. His experiences at Fisk changed his life, and he discovered his fate as a leader of the black struggle to free his people from oppression. At Fisk, Du Bois became acquainted with many sons and daughters of former slaves, who felt the pain of oppression and shared his sense of cultural and spiritual tradition. In the South, he saw his people being driven to a status of little difference from slavery, and saw them terrorized at the polls. He taught school during the summers in the eastern portion of Tennessee, and saw the suffering firsthand. He then resolved to dedicate his life to fighting the terrible racial oppression that held the black people down, both economically and politically. Du Bois's determination was rewarded with a scholarship to Harvard, where he began the first scientific sociological studies in the United States. He felt that through science, he could dispel the irrational prejudices and ignorance that prevented racial equality. He went on to create great advancements in the study of race relations, but oppression continued with segregation laws, lynching, and terror tactics on the rise. Du Bois then formed the Niagara Movement, and in 1909, was a vital part in establishing the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. He was also the editor of the NAACP magazine The Crisis from 1910 to 1934. In this stage of his life, he encouraged direct assaults on the legal, political, and economic system, which he felt blossomed out of the exploitation of the poor and powerless black community. He became the most important black protest leader of the first half of the 20th century. His views clashed with Booker T. Washington, who felt that the black people of America had to simply accept discrimination, and hope to eventually earn respect and equality through hard work and success. Du Bois wrote The Souls of Black Folk in 1903, criticizing Booker, claiming that his ideas would lead to a perpetuation of oppression instead of freeing the black people from it. Du Bois criticism lead to a branching out of the black civil rights movement, Booker's conservative followers, and a radical following of his critics. Du Bois had established the Black Nationalism that was the inspiration for all black empowerment throughout the civil rights movement, but had begun during the progressive era. Although the movement that germinated from his ideas may have taken on a more violent form, WEB Du Bois felt strongly that every human being could shape their own destinies with determination and hard work. He inspired hope by declaring that progress would come with the success of the small struggles for a better life.

Also marijuana would be of great economical value to the US government, by applying tax to the substance, the profits from cultivation and freeing law enforcement funds from more Cannabis Sativa also know as Marijuana is derived from the buds of the Indian hemp plant. There are three known types of Cannabis; Cannabis Sativa, Cannabis Indica, and Cannabis Rudderalis. Marijuana was first used in China in the 2nd century B.C., and was used in China as an anesthetic 5,000 years ago. The ancient Assyrians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, and East Indians used the drug to control muscle spasms, reduce pain, and to treat indigestion (history). Marijuana was also farmed in Jamestown Virginia by the settlers for its fibers which were used to make rope and sacks. The next time that America herd of Marijuana was in the early 1930's. It was brought back to light by Harry J. Anslinger, who was the commissioner of the Federal Bureau of Narcotics. Anslinger was sited or saying that Marijuana was only used by Mexicans and Blacks and made them very violent criminals, and if parents did not wont their sons to murders and rapist they keep them away from the weed (Grass). At this point he lied to the government saying the effects of the drug had been researched and the subsequent information was true. In truth there was all the research that had been done and all statements were biased. This led him to rush the passing of the Marijuana Tax Act of 1937. The Tax Act did not make the use or possession illegal as long...

Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 74

Assignment Example concept that was created in the Twentieth Century, and it stresses on the decentralization of government powers, but not equal sharing of government responsibilities between local, state and federal institution and agencies (Grant 257). This implies that both federal and state governments are concurrently independent and interdependent with a common region of financial resources and functions. Therefore, it is difficult for a single government to accumulate all the powers. The courts affect the sovereignty of the state particularly when the laws are unconstitutional (Grant 257). However, the most significant question is who determines what is unconstitutional. The state authority usually has the power to declare any Congress’ law unconstitutional by using the right reasoning method. Additionally, the primary function of a state government is to protect its citizens and their common good. State Court judges usually swear to uphold the constitution while federal court judges do not. Poor states cannot offer benefits that rich states can provide, yet state citizens whether poor or rich are equally considered as American citizens. National citizenship is responsible for addressing these inequalities. Another example is that cooperative federalism blurs the thin line between national and state responsibility (Grant 261). This encourages people to express their interest at the government level that offer the best opportunity of success. Yes. This is because early supporters of Washington Administration were known as Federalists because they advocated for a strong national government that outweighed state governments (Grant 261). Those who were in the opposition became Republicans since they felt that a strong national government would undermine the functions of states’ governments, which forms the United States of America. Federalists then became what is presently known as democrats. Even in the current U.S. government, the democrats are in the government while

Genetic Study of Olive Plants

Genetic Study of Olive Plants Introduction Oleaceae family comprises 24 genus which consists of 600 species and its members can be found all over the world. One of the first cultivated agricultural tree crops within Oleaceae family is the olive Olea europaea L which is usually used for production of table olives and edible oil. Olive is the native plant in coastal regions of Mediterranean and there are more than 86 varieties of Europea species found in Anatolia of Turkey. Turkey is known to be one of the largest producers of olive oil and the first producer of black table olive among all the countries in the world. Majority of the black table olive that produced by Turkey is the cultivar of Gemlik which represents 80% of the production. Therefore, many researches in Turkey are mainly focused on molecular and classical breeding program for Gemlik cultivar due to its economical importance. It is essential to have the genetic studies in olive plants in order to understand the genetic mechanisms and hence to improve the quality and quantity of products. Expressed sequence tags (ESTs) which are obtained from the single-pass complementary DNA (cDNA) sequencing can provide genetic information of an organism. Since EST is generated with gene that expressed at certain stage or tissue of organism, the information on mature transcripts for coding region of genome can be shown by EST. Hence, EST databases are useful for functional studies, gene and marker discovery, and gene mapping. Currently, EST libraries for more than 40 plant species are established for providing information that is important for functional genomics studies in which the putative functions of genes can be deduced by searching for homologies with known genes. Before this study, there were just around one thousand EST sequences which were available in GenBank database on February 2009. The EST studies for olives are obviously insufficient and lacking of sequence information may limit the genetic studies in olive plants. In this paper, two separate cDNA libraries which were constructed from young leaves and olive fruits for olive cultivar Gemlik were used to establish a rich EST collection. Clones which were obtained from the cDNA libraries were sequenced to generate ESTs. These sequences were assembled and clustered by using specific software and they were then deposited in GenBank database. Annotation of the generated EST sequences was performed using BLAST and BLAST2GO. Method of preparing Expressed Sequence Tag (EST) database The research material used in this study was the olive (O. europea) cultivar Gemlik (G 20/1). The methodology that involved in preparing EST database for Olea europaea was described by Ozgenturk et al. (2010). Before constructing cDNA library, total RNA was isolated from young leaves and unripe olive fruits by using the RNA extraction kit. In this paper, RNeasy Plant Miniprep kit was used for total RNA extraction. Total RNA was treated with the Oligotex mRNA Mini Kit to obtain purified mRNA. The isolated mRNAs were collected and utilized for constructing two separate cDNA libraries. Since RNA molecules are very unstable and difficult to amplify, it is important to convert mRNAs into cDNAs which are more stable in order to analyse the information carried by mRNA molecules (Mullinax Sorge, 2003; Tovey, 2011). The cDNA libraries can be constructed with the isolated mRNAs by using a cDNA library construction kit and the CloneMiner cDNA Library Construction Kit was used in this paper. Briefly, a double-stranded cDNA (ds cDNA) was first synthesised from mRNA by using primers provided in the kit. For the first strand synthesis, biotin-attB2-Oligo(dT) primer bound to the poly(A) tail of mRNA and the mRNA was used as the template for reverse transcription by SuperScriptTM ΙΙ Reverse Transcriptase. The newly synthesised single-stranded cDNA (ss cDNA) served as the template for second strand synthesis by Escherichia coli DNA Polymerase ÃŽâ„¢. attB1 sequence was then incorporated to the 5’ end of ds cDNA by attB1 Adapter. The synthesized ds cDNA was ligated into pDONR222 vector and transformed into competent E. coli strain DH5. The two cDNA libraries were plated onto LB-kanamycin agar plates. Individual colonies formed on the plates were picked into 384-well plates which containing SOB medium and incubated overnight. The cDNA libraries were then stored at -80 °C after adding with glycerol (10% v/v). Complementary DNA (cDNA) clones were randomly selected for isolating plasmid DNA with alkaline lysis method. The isolated DNA was digested and insert size was identified by performing 1% agarose gel electrophoresis. In this paper, 3840 clones were randomly selected and amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using M13 universal primers. The ABI 3730 capillary sequencer was used for automated sequencing of cDNA in order to generate ESTs. Results Two separate cDNA libraries were established with mRNA extracted from young leaves and fruits respectively. The average insert sizes for the leaf and fruit cDNA libraries were respectively 1.6 kb and 1.1 kb. The leaf cDNA library consisted of 2.4 Ãâ€" 106 clones and 2304 clones were selected for sequencing. Among 2.2 Ãâ€" 105 clones within olive fruit cDNA library, 1536 clones were sequenced. Therefore, altogether 3840 EST sequences were generated from cloned cDNA sequencing. In order to obtain high quality EST sequences, raw EST sequences were processed by using Phred software in which low-quality bases, vector, and adapter were removed. After processing, 106 low quality EST sequences were removed and the remaining 3734 ESTs were kept for contig assembly. Contig Assembly Program 3 (CAP3) was used to assemble leaf and fruit EST sequences into contigs. 205 contigs were generated from the assembling of 2228 leaf ESTs and 69 contigs were generated from 1506 fruit EST sequences assembly. The total numbers of contig and singleton that were established from these two libraries were 274 and 2478 respectively. Altogether 3734 ESTs and 249 high quality contigs were deposited in GenBank under the accession number GO242703 to GO246436 and EZ421546 to EZ421794 respectively. In order to designate annotation of the generated EST sequences, BLAST was performed on the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) web server for searching gene homology. Six hundred thirty five EST’s unique gene sequences were found to have more than 80% homology with sequences of known function in the other species. Two thousand twenty four EST sequences have less than 80% homology to the expressed proteins, hypothetical proteins, putative uncharacterized proteins and unknown proteins in database. There are 1339 EST sequences that shown no homology with the sequences that exist in GenBank and about 96.9% of EST sequences that established in this study are different from that in the existing olive sequences database in NCBI. Therefore, these EST sequences can be considered as novel genes in O. europea. Besides BLAST analysis, gene ontology (GO) annotation was performed for the contig sequences generated from the ESTs by using Blast2GO. GO terms were distributed among the biological process, molecular function and cellular component categories.
